Inspired by a Photograph, Ad Agency Creates Roma Education Poster 20. 4. 2009
Recently, Igor Mladinovic was looking through
a portfolio of photographs when one caught his attention: it showed a
young Roma boy happily sticking out his tongue. The image reminded him
of a famous photo of Albert Einstein with his tongue out, and it gave
him an inspiration. Mladinovic, Chief Creative Director at the
advertising agency McCann Erickson Croatia,
went to see his Art Director, Andrej Vuckovic, and together they
created a poster that uses both images to promote education for Roma
children (below). "You never know where a 'young Einstein' is waiting
for an opportunity," says Mladinovic.
After finding information online about the Decade of Roma Inclusion and the Council of Europe's Dosta!
campaign, Mladinovic sent the poster idea to both initiatives. Although
it has yet to be adopted for a campaign, he hopes that the poster will
be put to good use. "We do our everyday job in advertising for big
clients and for profit," says Mladinovic, "but we sometimes want to use
our talent and knowledge to create something good for the community and
for those who need our help."
